Chairman, New Board Members AnnouncedJune 27, 2002Tampa, FL -- The Board of Directors of the Outback Bowl has announced the election of a new Chairman and ten new board members to its 2002-2003 slate. Carter McCain of MacFarlane, Ferguson & McMullen, P.A., has been elected as Chairman, for a one year term, of the popular New Year's Day College Bowl. "The Outback Bowl is one of the most respected bowls in the country," notes McCain. "I am ecstatic at the opportunity to chair this national sporting event and continue its success in adding to the quality of life of the Tampa Bay area." Additional board officers confirmed include Terry Bien, of National Dealer Service, Inc., as Vice Chairman; Chuck Johnson of CTA Restaurants, Inc. and Tim Love of Harborside Mortgage of Tampa Bay as Vice Chairs of Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties respectively; Steve Schember of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick as Secretary; and Bruce Poli of IBM as Treasurer. New to Outback Bowl Board of Directors this year are Jim Bossert of MetLife, Robin Carson of Busch Gardens, Dale Dignem of Regions Bank, Kermit Kauffman of the Tampa Tribune, Mike Kerrigan of WTOG UPN TV 44, Bruce Lauer of CLW Realty Services, Gwen Mitchell of Deloitte & Touche, Marianne Moore of Moore, Epstein, Moore Advertising, Tom O'Brien of AAA Auto Club South, and Wendy Wilson of Aventis Healthcare Corporation. The Outback Bowl matches teams from the Southeastern Conference and Big Ten Conference in Raymond James Stadium each New Year's Day. The game is televised on ESPN TV and is the sixth highest paying bowl game. |
