2001 Outback Bowl Sold Out!

December 04, 2000

Tampa, FL -- The 2001 Outback Bowl featuring Ohio State University and the University of South Carolina is an official sell-out. Outback Bowl officials say no more tickets are available for the 15th anniversary New Year’s Day bowl game. Both universities are still in the process of selling tickets to their season ticket holders and students, but it is expected they will sell all of their ticket allotments. It is the second sellout for the bowl in the past three years.

"This is what we expected," said the bowl's President/CEO Jim McVay. "Our community is very excited about this match-up and the Ohio State and South Carolina fans are some of the most avid fans in college football."

Some 45,000 out-of-town visitors are expected to descend on the Tampa Bay area for the bowl and surrounding events.

The Outback Bowl can be heard locally on Newsradio 970 WFLA. The sell-out also means that the local black-out will be lifted and game will be seen in the Tampa Bay area, as well as nationally, on ESPN TV.
