Spartans, Bulldogs Bring Smiles to Kids at HospitalDecember 27, 2011
Players and coaches from the Michigan State Spartans and Georgia Bulldogs football teams in town for the Outback Bowl visited children at St Joseph’s Children’s Hospital of Tampa today to bring them a little cheer for the holidays.
Representing Michigan State were OT Skyler Burkland, DL Johnathan Strayhorn, DE Tyler Hoover, NT Kevin Pickelman, and WR Bennie Fowler. Georgia players included QB Aaron Murray, TE Orson Charles, FS Bacarri Rambo, LB Jarvis Jones, C Ben Jones and P Drew Bulter. They went room-to-room distributing posters, pennants, T-shirts and other items, and signed autographs for about 70 children throughout the hospital.
“It’s a lot of fun seeing the smiles on these kids faces when we can cheer up their day,” said Aaron Murray. “A lot of these kids had to spend Christmas in the hospital so it’s great to see them having a little fun.”
The Outback Bowl will kick-off at 1:00 P.M. ET on January 2nd in Raymond James Stadium. Tickets are available at www.Ticketmaster.com . Fans can follow the teams throughout the week with daily updates and photos on the Outback Bowl web site at http://www.outbackbowl.com
