Urban Meyer to Speak at Outback Bowl Trane Kickoff LuncheonSeptember 07, 2011Tampa, FL – ABC/ ESPN college football analyst and former Florida Gator Head Coach Urban Meyer will be the guest speaker at the annual Outback Bowl Trane Kickoff Luncheon next month. About 800 bowl Sponsors and Club Members are expected the popular Outback Bowl invitation-only event held at A La Carte Pavilion and catered by Outback Steakhouse. The luncheon begins the send-off of the Outback Bowl selection committee representatives as they travel to Big Ten and SEC games as scouts/ambassadors of the Bowl as they search for teams to participate in the upcoming game. The luncheon is known for having high profile speakers over the years such as Erin Andrews, Craig James, Doug Flutie, Lou Holtz, Joe Theismann, Lee Corso, Chris Fowler, Paul Maguire and even Joe Namath. Meyer joined ESPN in January following a ten year head coaching career that included six years at the University of Florida where he led his team to two national championships. A three-time national Coach-of-the-Year, Meyer won over 81% of his games and was named “Coach of the Decade” in 2009 by The Sporting News and Sports Illustrated. His final game at the helm of the Gators was in the 2011 Outback Bowl where the Gators defeated Penn State 37-24. The 2012 Outback Bowl will kick-off at 1:00 P.M. ET on Monday, January 2nd.
