Outback Bowl Names 2011-12 ChairmanMay 24, 2011
Tampa, FL -- The Board of Directors of the Outback Bowl announced Dale Dignum, Banking Consultant for Strategic Risk Associates, LLC, has been elected to the post of Chairman, for a one year term, of the popular New Year’s Day college bowl game located in Tampa. Dignum has served on the bowls Board of Directors since 2001 and is past Chair of the Team Selection Committee.
"I am extremely proud and honored to have the opportunity to serve as the 2012 Outback Bowl Chairman,” states Dignum. “The Outback Bowl has rendered tremendous recognition to our Tampa Bay community for twenty-five years. We are very fortunate to have all the components necessary to make this bowl game consistently successful. It's not only the exciting match-up between the Big Ten and SEC, but our staff, volunteers and tremendous community support collectively help make our bowl amongst the best in the country."
Additional officers elected by the board for the 2011-12 bowl include: Mike Kerrigan, Account Executive, WTOG-CW 44 TV, as Vice Chairman; Ken Hoverman, Vice President of Marketing, UnitedHealthcare, as Vice Chair of Hillsborough County and Secretary; Kevin Smith, Director of the St Petersburg / Clearwater Sports Commission, as Vice Chair of Pinellas County; and Bill Cammarata, Senior Vice President, MetLife, as Treasurer.
The Outback Bowl played in Raymond James Stadium will celebrate its 26th game this season. The game will kick off at 1:00 PM ET January 2, 2012 on ABC TV and features teams from the Big Ten Conference and Southeastern Conference.
