Outback Bowl Unveils New Logo For Popular New Year's Day Game

August 22, 2007

Tampa, FL -- Outback Bowl officials today unveiled a new logo for the popular New Year’s Day college football bowl game held in Tampa. The logo replaces the former look that the bowl used for the past twelve years when it changed its name from the Hall of Fame Bowl.

The new logo incorporates the newer branding of title sponsor Outback Steakhouse with a boomerang shaped football that bowl officials have incorporated selectively in promotional materials in recent years. Outback Steakhouse is in its thirteenth year as title sponsor of the bowl which is the second longest relationship of its kind in college bowl game history.

“The design objective with the new logo was to very stylishly and succinctly say football bowl game, Florida, fun and to recognize Outback Steakhouse as our title sponsor,” explains Outback Bowl President/CEO Jim McVay. “The new contemporary look will provide endless marketing, merchandising and promotional opportunities for the Bowl.”

The bowl game will host its 22nd game in Tampa on January 1, 2008. The game matches teams from the Southeastern Conference and the Big Ten Conference in Raymond James Stadium, and is televised nationally and internationally via ESPN TV. The game has sold out early six of the past seven years attracting over 65,000 fans including over 40,000 from outside of the Tampa Bay market.
