2017 Outback Bowl to Kickoff at 1:00PM ET January 2nd

Tampa, FL - Outback Bowl officials confirmed today that their 2017 game will be played on Monday,January 2nd along with the other traditional New Year's Day bowls. The game will also move its kickoff time back to 1:00 PM ET and be televised on ABC. The Outback Bowl, which celebrated its 30th Anniversary last season, hosts teams from the Big Ten Conference and Southeastern Conference at Raymond James Stadium.

Historically whenever January 1st falls on a Sunday the traditional New Year's Day bowls are played on January 2nd. This same situation arose in January 1989, 1995, 2006 and 2012. The Outback Bowl will return to the January 1st date for the 2018 game.

The Outback Bowl attracts tens-of-thousands of out of market visitors from more than forty states who join local fans each year in generating an economic impact estimated at $1 billion on the Tampa Bay area over its history. The game also generates tens-of-millions of dollars in exposure for the region each year and has contributed more than $130 million to universities over its history.
